Innovayse Mail
Innovayse Mail is a custom Gmail-style webmail client for Mailcow — connecting to Mailcow's Dovecot (IMAP) and Postfix (SMTP) to give users a full webmail UI without SOGo or Roundcube. Sign-in with Innovayse SSO authenticates over IMAP as a Dovecot master user, so no mailbox password is ever stored, and domain owners self-manage mailboxes without staff involvement.
The Challenge
Replace a generic webmail client (SOGo/Roundcube) with a custom Gmail-style UI that integrates with Innovayse's own SSO, so a mailbox and an Innovayse account stay in lockstep without ever storing a mailbox password centrally.
Our Approach
Built a .NET 9 Clean Architecture (CQRS) API using MailKit to talk to IMAP/SMTP directly and look up mailbox quota from the Mailcow admin API, paired with a Nuxt 4 frontend acting as a backend-for-frontend that proxies API calls while injecting the session. SSO sign-in authenticates over IMAP as a Dovecot master user; password changes sync back to Mailcow via an internal webhook.
